Smotrich at Yedioth conference: Not even a grain of wheat will enter Gaza

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, speaking at Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth's People of Israel Conference, addressed reports that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) informed the government of an impending need to resume humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Smotrich expressed astonishment at the prospect of the IDF communicating through the media, stating: "If this is true, it's astonishing that the IDF is speaking to us via the press. Not even a grain of wheat will enter the Strip." He further questioned the feasibility of prioritizing the return of hostages before the defeat of Hamas. "First the hostages and then the defeat of Hamas—this is a slogan whose viability I simply do not recognize," Smotrich said, added, "It's good that the war has begun. It's unfortunate that it started the way it did. But we are changing the reality in the Middle East."
